Dr. John Rathauser has managed a clinical psychology practice in Kendall Park, New Jersey, since 1991. In this position, he primarily provides psychotherapy to adults and older adolescents, focusing on couples therapy. He specializes in Davanloo’s intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy (ISTDP), a technique rooted in empirical, video-recorded research. He spent eight years as a member in training at the Montreal training group under ISTDP creator Habib Davanloo, MD. Dr. John Rathauser has assisted patients with many difficulties during his three-decade career, from marital issues to clinical depression.

Dr. Rathauser received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in Los Angeles. He also studied psychology at Wittenberg University with a minor in English. He completed his postgraduate studies at the Post Graduate Center for Mental Health and The Institute for Relationship Therapy in New York City. He is a member of professional organizations, such as the New Jersey State Psychological Association. His interests, meanwhile, range from travel to home audio.
